Filled with justicars and criminals, Group A has always had a strong sense of morality. They follow their moral compass rather they're been working for one of the mastermind villains of the Seven or for the holy Chantry of Unity that serves the Water Goddess Umia. They've always sought vengeance on those who have wronged them. Group A has always striven to protect the little guy even if that means tackling a few big people.
What started with the downfall of Westwind crescendo-ed into the assassination of the Celestial Magnate of Ardorserii. The exiled summoner Elaina Leldia, tracked down a powerful earthfire weapon and unleashed it in the capital to distract her enemies. Unfortunately, a circle of vampires known as the Twilight Fang were not easily distracted. Unsure of what her true motivations were, the Twilight Fang banded together and gave Elaina an ultimatum, flee the country and never return or die. That night in the midst of the attacks happening across the city, the vampires struck with full force against Elaina and her mercenaries.
The resulting fight cost the life of Titwrith Broudside and nearly the life of Lumigrax Solhart a second time. But with Titwrith’s sacrifice the party was able to flee from the capital. Certain the party would not survive another encounter with the vampires should the Twilight Fang pursue them, Elaina was resolved to find her missing bodyguard, Terror Cry. She has turned her attention north to the bustling port city of Grewyr to contact a nearby ally, Tiengu the 5th Ascended.
With any luck, she hopes to use the cult’s followers and resources to track down her companion before continuing her travels north to the Eathfire of Serii’s Dawn. Grewyr is a grand city filled with foreign gladiators, travelers from all over the region, and merchants from across the world. Elaina’s success depends on if her lackies can keep a low enough profile to not catch the attention of the Twilight Fang or any would-be adventurers. Spoiler warning: they can’t. Their story begins in the streets of Grewyr.
Using lost and unknown magic, the sorceress Elaina Lelia did the unthinkable. With help from her demonic companion, Terror Cry, she stole an entire Earthfire from the nation of Ardorserii. In the wake of her goals, she left the country of Ardorserii on the brink of ruin teeter tottering between civil war and dark forces. No one has a clear idea of what her plans for the fire entail or what exactly the organization that she works for wants. However, they do know there are three more wells of divine energy spread out over two other countries that she could potentially steal.
Bonded by fate, a plucky group of criminals, paladins, scholars, and foreigners have sworn an oath to prevent Elaina from causing anymore destruction to the world of Ilderon. After trudging through frigid mountainous roads and war torn country sides the group has arrived on the Ardorian border planning to continue their travels westward. If they are to predict her next move, they must understand the extent of her plans. The party has been tracking rumors of Elaina’s dealing in Ardorserii and found out she was first spotted in the country raiding a hidden library under the military fortress of Westwind.
The ruined keep lies on the Ardorian hills in front of them still looming over the Alilnegi border. Battered by war and sabotage, the aged foundation of the fortress still stands. If there is any knowledge to be gleaned from the rubble is yet to be determined. Stories tell of ages before the Shatterings where mortals used the flames of the Earthfire freely--of times when their magic could be freely accessed by all. The writings of a more primordially attuned generation could give insight into what the power of a fully functional Earthfire is capable of. If any of those stories exist, they might reside in the tunnels below. Their stories began on the banks of the Alyanga river beneath the hills of the fortress.
Terror Cry delayed the party’s pursuit of Elaina and she slipped through their fingers in Alilnegi. The hunt for the rogue arcanist continues. Her next target presumably is the Earthfire in the Daraus Desert on the continent of Galken. Without the means to safely teleport to the fortress of Firerise, the party’s travels would require them to travel through the allied nation of Heimsdale.
Elaina Leldia was successful in stealing the Southern Earthfire. The hunt The party of justicars have arrived in the capital of Alilnegi, Sky’s Reach. The Anganthel of the elven armies, Bouskai Alilrith, has escorted her prisoner to the large coastal city. There she plans to explore the capital on her own time while the humans debate the fate of the Archblight General.
Sky’s Reach and it’s expansive lower city present the perfect opportunity to track Elaina’s Leldia’s contatcs and movements.
